Two POLMAR training courses to boost preparedness

Two POLMAR-Terre training courses, first in the Côtes d’Armor area of Brittany then in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, were organised in June. CEDRE and PNE (Pôle National d’Expertise POLMAR-Terre) provided training for local councillors and field responders over the course of several sessions, in Binic and Saint-Brieuc on 9 and 10 June, and in Saint Pierre and Miquelon on 22 and 23 June. These training courses were combined with practical exercises involving boom deployment (Binic), shoreline surveys and clean-up (Miquelon), onshore storage of waste recovered at sea (Saint Pierre), as well as framework exercises (Saint-Brieuc and Saint Pierre), through which all those involved were able to gain hands-on experience in spill management and response.
