Our mission, supporting incident management

CEDRE’s fundamental purpose is to provide advice and expertise to authorities and private sector organisations, both in France and internationally.

Our scope encompasses all aquatic environments—marine, coastal and inland waters—and a wide array of pollutants, primarily oil, chemicals and aquatic litter.

Our actions are built on a framework of six pillars: operational assistance, contingency planning, research on pollutants and their effects, experimentation on response techniques and equipment, training for spill response professionals, and technical documentation and intelligence.

CEDRE mission - Crisis management assistance

A committed team, a shared purpose

CEDRE boasts a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, scientists and administrative personnel, all devoted to a shared purpose: to be ready to respond in the event of accidental pollution. This diverse range of profiles constitutes a major asset to understand, anticipate and act efficiently in an emergency.

For our missions, we draw on the variety and depth of our team's expertise, which includes chemistry, biology, ecotoxicology, geography, offshore operations, shipbuilding, the environment, quality, safety, automation, mechanics, geomatics, statistics, communication, IT and finance. Thanks to these complementary skills, CEDRE is an essential link in the incident management chain.

Our people

Our values

Anticipation

Providing an incident management capability wherever and whenever it is required is part of CEDRE’s DNA. Our flexible, responsive team is available 24/7, ready to support our partners and clients, both in France and internationally.

Expertise

While spill response remains our core focus, we are also looking to the future with the challenges of the energy transition. Building on almost 50 years of experience and our multidisciplinary skills, we support the maritime, port and offshore wind sectors, providing operational expertise to tackle the challenges tomorrow brings.

Environmental responsibility

Our action is driven by our commitment to preserving the environment and promoting its return to its original state through gentle, responsible processes. We manage our emissions and energy consumption, maintain our environmental quality management system and strive to reduce our ecological footprint. Our dual ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification attests to this.

Neutrality

CEDRE focuses on assessing the risks and damage associated with accidental water pollution. Without taking an activist approach, we act with impartiality and integrity to provide an objective analysis and ensure informed decision-making in emergency situations.
