Port of Antwerp-Bruges

CEDRE provided technical assistance from Brest to the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, following a heavy fuel oil spill from a vessel. The spill occurred in a harbour basin, and the fuel oil slick drifted, reaching port infrastructures as well as natural areas and polders in Belgium and the Netherlands. CEDRE provided information on the oil’s potential behaviour and clean-up recommendations, in particular for vessel hulls and areas used by birds. The total number of requests so far this year now sits at 85.
