Port of Antwerp - Bruges

CEDRE provided technical assistance from Brest to the Port of Antwerp–Bruges, which was dealing with a heavy fuel oil leak from a ship. The spill occurred in a dock and the oil spread, affecting port infrastructure as well as natural areas and polders in Belgium and the Netherlands. CEDRE provided information on the likely behaviour of the oil and recommendations regarding clean-up operations, particularly for ship hulls and areas frequented by birds. This brings the total number of requests for the current year to 85.
