Inland waters training at CEDRE
Published on 22.05.2026
From 18 to 22 May, CEDRE ran a training course on oil spill response in inland waters for 16 trainees (SDIS, BSPP and industrial firefighters).
This course, composed mainly of practical sessions, provided trainees with the opportunity to:
- apply on-land spill response techniques at the Finistère fire and rescue service’s departmental training centre (CFD);
- deploy a boom and a complete recovery chain in the Penfeld river;
- build custom-made barriers in the natural environment;
- and respond to real oil spills at CEDRE.
Through these exercises, trainees gained a deeper understanding of the constraints associated with field conditions, the environment and the products involved.
