CEDRE trains Taiwanese delegation in marine pollution preparedness and response

In early July, CEDRE received a Taiwanese delegation led by the Ocean Conservation Administration (OCA), composed of representatives from various administrations, including the Ministry of National Defence and the Coast Guard Administration, as well as private-sector partners.

Training was provided on the management of oil and chemical spills at sea. Our experts shared their scientific, technical and operational expertise to strengthen the trainees’ knowledge of marine pollution preparedness and response.

The Finistère fire and rescue service (SDIS 29) also gave a demonstration of the operational capabilities of UAVs and the Brest naval firefighters presented the protection and detection equipment used during surveys in the event of a chemical spill.

Over and above the technical aspects, this course helped to foster international dialogue and cooperation through a common goal: to improve preparedness for and response to spills at sea to better protect the marine environment
