Update to Malta’s national marine pollution contingency plan

Transport Malta, the authority responsible for drawing up and updating Malta’s national marine pollution contingency plan, has chosen CEDRE to assist it in drafting the section of the plan relating to shoreline response operations. In order to meet with the main departments involved in spill response at sea, as well as to gain a better understanding of the challenges and issues relating to the archipelago’s coastline, CEDRE visited the area from 22 to 28 March. This first trip, organised by Transport Malta, provided the opportunity to conduct a series of working sessions focusing on key aspects of shoreline response and to visit several sites that are representative of the wealth and diversity of Malta’s coastline. A second trip is scheduled for the end of the year.
