POLMAR training in Guadeloupe

Together with PNE (Pôle national d’expertise POLMAR-Terre), a technical cluster established by DGAMPA, Cedre jointly ran a training session and an exercise in Guadeloupe for local authorities. The first day was devoted to managing a spill incident: after a morning of theory lectures, the participants – local authorities and municipal councillors – put their knowledge into practice in the afternoon during a tutorial based on a scenario in which a spill at sea had reached the coast. The following day, an exercise in real-life conditions, involving the activation of the Departmental Operations Centre at the prefecture, was the chance for the participants to test their newly acquired knowledge.

Meanwhile, specialised training was run for local field operators in Terre-de-Haut, in the Iles des Saintes. The municipality was greatly involved, with two half-days of theory lectures followed by a practical exercise on the shoreline. This exercise, for which the Departmental Operations Centre was activated, focused on shoreline clean-up techniques, including hands-on simulations on Pompierre beach.

These initiatives enhanced the participants’ skills, preparing them to respond effectively to a spill in order to protect the environment.
