Objectives

  • Identify spill risks by chemicals likely to occur in ports or on the shoreline
  • Anticipate the fate znd behaviour of chemical spills in the aquatic environment as well as hazards for humans and the environment
  • Seek out initial information and effectively manage the initial stages of the response
  • Gain concrete knowledge of the strategies and actions to be implemented following a spill in port and on the shoreline
  • Be aware of the capabilities of responders, key stakeholders and technical support/ organisations experts who can be mobilised
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of contingency plans covering chemical risks

Content

  • Management of chemical pollution related to Cargo, Vessels, and New Propulsion Energies (Ammonia, Methanol, etc.) in port and coastal areas
  • Chemicals :
    • Risks and behaviour
    • Classifications
  • Assessment and decision support tools (PPE, detection and sampling, modelling)
  • Response strategies for : containers and packages, bulk cargoes, liquefied gases, New Propulsion Energies.
