Inland Waters Training at CEDRE
Published on 22.05.2026
From 18 to 22 May, CEDRE hosted a group of 16 trainees (from local fire and rescue services, the Paris Fire Brigade or industrial fire services) for a training course on combating accidental oil spills in inland waters.
This mainly practical training course enabled participants to:
- apply on-shore response techniques at the SDIS 29 Departmental Training Centre (CFD);
- deploy a boom and a complete recovery chain on the natural water body of the Penfeld;
- design customised booms in a natural environment;
- and manage real oil spills at CEDRE.
These exercises enabled the trainees to gain a better understanding of the constraints associated with the terrain, the environment and the substances involved.
